Associations between Sow Body Lesions with Body Condition and Subsequent Reproductive Performance

چکیده

The objective was to determine the association between foot, leg, vulva and shoulder lesions with body condition reproduction in group housed sows. Whiteline sows (n = 887) were measured before farrowing at weaning a commercial farm eastern North Carolina. Foot leg abnormalities included cracked hooves, toe length differences, overgrown hooves locomotion. Vulva scored no lesion or present. Shoulder lesion, abrasion open wound. Sow measures Knauer sow caliper (CS), weight (WT), visual score (BCS), backfat (BF) longissimus muscle area (LMA). production traits number born alive, litter birth weight, weaned, piglet survival (number weaned ÷ (total + net transfer)), wean-to-conception interval average daily lactation feed intake. Data analyzed SAS using PROC GLM for continuous GLIMMIX categorical traits. recorded on 17.6% of 0% weaning. No lesions, abrasions wounds 100%, 0%, respectively, 73%, 21% 6%, not associated reproduction. lower CS, WT, BCS BF farrowing, reduced (4.3%). Lower CS increased Backfat had curvilinear associations weaning, 39 mm 4.2 minimizing lesions. Results suggest thinner survival.

Sow body composition and its associations with reproductive and litter growth performance of the primiparous sow

The complex of desirable maternal traits includes litter size, mothering ability and milk production, combined with aspects of piglet viability or survival and sow rebreeding performance. There are two major contradictory elements within this trait complex. Firstly, larger litters will be, on average, lighter at birth, and result in an extended duration of farrowing. These characteristics may a...

Relationships between body weight at first mating and subsequent body development, feed intake, and reproductive performance of rabbit does.

A retrospective study was performed to evaluate the relationships between BW at first insemination and subsequent body development, feed intake, reproductive performance, and culling rate of rabbit does. Young rabbit does are vulnerable to body energy deficit in first lactation, resulting in decreased reproductive performance and high replacement rate. Heavy does at first insemination might be ...

Factors Affecting Body Condition Score and Its Relationship with Productiveand Reproductive Performances of Holstein Cows

The objective of the present study was to determine factors affecting body condition score (BCS) and its association with productive and reproductive performances in Holstein cows. Mixed model analysis was performed on monthly records of BCS from April 2006 to July 2012 comprising 34666 records from 3134 dairy cows in a large commercial dairy herd under arid climatic conditions of Isfahan in Ir...

Corticosterone levels of tufted puffins vary with breeding stage, body condition index, and reproductive performance.

Corticosterone (CORT) levels in free-living animals are seasonally modulated and vary with environmental conditions. Although most studies measure total CORT concentrations, levels of corticosteroid binding globulin (CBG) may also be modulated, thus altering the concentration of CORT available for diffusion into tissues (free CORT). We investigated the seasonal dynamics of CBG, total CORT, and ...
